Problems Logging in

Bookmarking the JuriSearch® Web Site

To avoid typing in the "www.jurisearch.com" address each time you access the site, you can "Bookmark" (Netscape) or add the JuriSearch® web site to your "Favorite Places" (Internet Explorer).

When you are at the JuriSearch® front page use your mouse to select the "Bookmarks" icon on your browser's toolbar (Netscape) or "Favorites" (Internet Explorer) from your browser's menu bar (it's on the same line as "File," "Edit," "View," etc.).

For Netscape, click once on the "Bookmark" icon and hold your mouse button down. A menu window should pop up. Select "Add Bookmark". In the future, to jump directly to the JuriSearch® site, just select "JuriSearch®" from your bookmarks!

For Internet Explorer, click once on "Favorites" from your browser's menu. Then select "Add Favorites". A new window should appear. Click "OK". In the future, to jump directly to the JuriSearch® site, just select "JuriSearch®" from the pull down menu under your "Favorites" icon.

Browser Not Responding

When it appears as if there's no activity in your browser when loading a page, you can (in this order): Click "Refresh" or "Reload" on your browser's toolbar Restart your browser Reconnect to your Internet Service Provider Check your Internet Service Provider's home page for optimum Windows95 and modem settings.

Glossary of Terms

The application (program) that you use to surf the Internet and view web pages. The most popular ones are Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator or Communicator. The features on both of these are generally similar. JuriSearch® requires a minimum of Internet Explorer version 5.5 or above, or Netscape version 4.7 or above.

Download When you need to copy a file (text or pictures, etc.) from a web site to your own computer's hard drive.

Link By clicking your mouse on a "link" you are forwarded to another document or another part of the same document. Links can be in the form of text or pictures. Text links are usually underlined.

About Cookies

Cookies: What They Are?

A Cookie is:
A very small text file placed on your hard drive by a Web Page server. It is essentially your identification card, and cannot be executed as code or deliver viruses. It is uniquely yours and can only be read by the server that gave it to you.

A Cookie's Purpose is:
To tell the server that you returned to that Web page.

How a Cookie Helps You:
It saves you time.
If you personalize pages, or register for services, a cookie helps JuriSearch® remember who you are.
Next time you return, we know to show you the information you requested. Or, when you register for another service, all you need to do is type in your username and a password. We then fill in any questions you've already answered. Of course, if you never register or leave personal information with JuriSearch®, then the server only knows that someone with your cookie has returned to the Web site. You are in charge of deciding whether we know anything about you.

How a Cookie Helps JuriSearch®:
It allows us to be more efficient. We can learn what information is important to our visitors, and what isn't. We can discard Web pages you don't use, and focus our efforts on information you need.

If You Want to Control Which Cookies You Accept:
You can order your browser to accept all cookies or to alert you every time a cookie is offered. Then you can decide whether to accept one or not.

If you're using Internet Explorer 6.0:
1. Choose Tools, then
2. Internet Options.
3. Click the Privacy tab,
4. Default setting is medium. Move the slider to determine which setting you prefer.
5. You can also click on Advanced for specialized cookie treatment.

If you're using Internet Explorer 5.5:
1. Choose Tools, then
2. Internet Options.
3. Click the Security tab,
4. Click Internet, then Custom Level.
5. Scroll down to Cookies and choose one of the two options.

If you're using Netscape Communicator 4.7:
On your Task Bar, click:
1. Edit, then
2. Preferences, then
3. click on Advanced.
4. Set your options in the box labeled 'Cookies'.

If you're using America Online (AOL):
1. Choose Preferences Online's My AOL menu.
2. Click WWW.
3. Click the Security tab.
4. Click Custom Level.
5. Scroll to the Cookies section.
6. From Allow cookies that are stored on your computer, click to select Enable.
7. Click OK.
8. Click Apply.
9. Click OK to close the AOL Internet Properties window.
10. Close Preferences.
